1. PCR tests – Where using a nasal swab the sample is processed by in a laboratory and the virus of present shows it’s RNA which is detected using scientific method. This is highly accurate test with high sensitivity and moderate specificity.
2. Rapid test – These are done using a blood or plasma specimen. There is a cassette which detects antibodies in a given body. This not specific to only COVID-19 generated anti bodies. For example if the person has had any past history of a flu his IgG will show high. But if he has no history of any flu and has shown high count of both IgGs and IgMs then it will be a positive. This is a low sensitivity and high specificity test.
